Sultan Kosen from Turkey was crowned the world's tallest man by Guinness World Records Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, standing here in front of London's Tower Bridge. Kosen, who is 8 feet 1, is from the town of Mardin in eastern Turkey. He was named the tallest man after his Ukrainian rival, Leonid Stadnyk, dropped out of the running by refusing to be measured. Stadnyk had previously been listed by Guinness at 8 feet 5.5 inches but was stripped of his title when he declined to let anyone confirm his height. (Kirsty Wigglesworth/AP Photo)Search This Blog
